Why is there a $1 charge from Revv on my bank statement?

An overview of temporary authorization holds

Updated over 11 months ago

If you have recently made a donation to an organization using Revv, you may see a temporary charge for $1 appear on your online statement. While this may appear to be an additional charge, it’s actually an 'authorization hold' (sometimes referred to as a preauthorization). An authorization hold functions as a source of verification that your account has the requisite funds to fulfill the payment and is a common bank practice when handling credit card transactions.

This authorization is temporary. These authorizations are designed to "fall off" of your statement anywhere from 1-30 days after the charge is initiated depending on your bank's policy. This means that while the hold appears on your online statement, it will not actually withdraw $1.00 from your account.
