Personalize your messages to individual donors

Updated over 11 months ago

Revv allows you to pass through substitution variables into your email receipts sent from Revv. Substitution variables are tags you place in your email copy to personalize your messages to individual donors.

You can add substitution tags to the email subject line and body.

Adding a substitution variable to an email

1. Go to your Revv Settings

2. Click on Emails from the left menu.

3. Click the green + button and click on regular or recurring donation email to add a new email.

4. Insert your copy into your email subject and body. Add the substitution variables directly into the body of the email. For example, say that you want to send a personalized message with the subject line, "Thank you, Alice!". You would have to use the following syntax:

Thank you, -first_name-!

Revv will replace -first_name- with Alice automatically.

5. Toggle the email to Active and Click Save.
